The mountainous terrain of Montenegro dictates strict tire requirements. In summer, the asphalt heats up significantly, and in winter there is heavy snowfall in the mountains (Kolašin, Žabljak, Cetinje Pass).
- Winter period: Winter tires are mandatory if you plan to travel north or through mountain passes. In coastal cities, snow is rare, but police may check for snow chains in the trunk when leaving the city.
